I haven’t had time to write anything on my blog since October last year, everything has been so crazy with second year of uni but now I have finally finished second year and we are all in quarantine I have more than enough time! I’m going to try my best to get back into writing posts weekly as I really enjoy writing my blog posts.
I thought today it might be helpful to let you guys know a typical day in my life in isolation. We are now in the 11th week of lockdown, and although the restrictions are beginning to ease, our lives are still very different from what they were before. Hopefully by sharing what I have been doing to keep busy, it will help anyone who is now struggling to find things to do to keep to a routine and stay productive!
I don’t set an alarm to wake up, I’m just trying to go to sleep at a sensible time and wake up not too late and get straight up out of bed. I normally wake up around 9am, but this varies. I don’t know when I’ll ever get this long off work/uni again so I’m making the most of the lie ins! I make sure to get up out of bed and make my bed which makes me feel better straight away.
I then go downstairs and have breakfast and a coffee. I’m trying to eat healthy at the minute so I make sure to have something healthy and filling for breakfast. I’m thinking of doing a post about the food I eat in a day and the diet I have been following, so I will go into more detail then.
After this, I go upstairs and get dressed into my gym clothes. I either go for a run, or do a workout from the Tone and Sculpt app which are circuit based workouts. I really recommend the app if you struggle to know what to do when you are working out, they go into so much detail and give you a specific plan to follow. I also am planning on writing a post on the app, so keep an eye out for that as I will be going through the ins and outs of it then. I normally run around 5k, which takes me about 30 minutes. I am currently training for the Great North Run so I’m trying to run 3 times a week. The circuit workouts are also around 30 minutes, and I do these 4 times a week. At the minute I’ve found doing 30 minutes workout every day is working best for me, as it keeps me busy and I’ve also lost quite a lot of weight from doing this.
When I finish my workout, I do my knee physio exercises and listen to a podcast. My absolute favourite podcast is Shagged Married Annoyed, which I listen to throughout the day while I’m doing various things. I really recommend it if you need something to cheer you up. I also like Fearne Cotton’s podcast ‘Happy Place’ and the Harry Potter at Home series which is essentially an audiobook of the Harry Potter stories where a new chapter is released each week.
After this I have a shower, and then get ready for the day. I always do my skincare routine and do my hair as this makes me feel much better, and if I am going out somewhere for example a walk with my friends I will do my makeup. I then make sure to get dressed as it just gives me some normality in my life.

By this time, it’s usually around lunch time so again I try to have something healthy.
I then tidy my room, I’m spending so much time in there at the minute that it makes me feel horrible if it’s a mess so I’m trying my best to keep it tidy. I’ve also been clearing out and reorganising my room, but I’m trying to do it a shelf/drawer at a time so it keeps me occupied for longer. So I will also make sure I do one of my shelves/drawers each day, although I am nearly finished doing that now.
Once I’ve done that, I tend to just have the rest of the day to myself. Sometimes I make Tik Toks, I’ve been trying to practice my makeup and doing videos of different looks inspired by Disney characters. I have also been going for walks, riding my bike, reading books, spending time with my family and watching a lot of things on Disney+! Playing games also fills in a lot of time, I like either playing on the Wii with my brother or on the Sims on my laptop. I have also been colouring in as I bought a Harry Potter colouring book which was the best purchase ever, you can get them on Amazon.

I think it’s really important to keep yourself busy during this time, so hopefully I’ve given you a few ideas here as to what you can do. I’m going to try and do some more posts along these lines, maybe going into more detail about certain things because I know how difficult this time is for everyone.
Try and keep doing things you enjoy, things to make you feel better and things that make you happy! Stay safe and I will see you on my next blog post (hopefully it won’t take as long as last time).
